Arcura was commissioned by Carter Lauren to supply and install PVC-U doors and windows for the new care home, “Barley Manor,” in Great Shelford, Cambridge, built for their client Porthaven.
The project included EPDM internal detailing to air seal all openings, improving energy efficiency and maintaining a controlled internal environment. Additionally, high-performance 43dB acoustic glass was installed on the elevation facing the nearby railway to significantly reduce external noise and enhance comfort for residents and staff.
The site presented logistical challenges, including restricted access, which required careful planning and coordination. As this was a new build, care home operations were not affected. Arcura carefully managed deliveries, installation schedules, and coordination with other contractors to ensure the project progressed smoothly.
All products were installed to meet strict requirements for safety, security, acoustic performance, regulatory compliance, and aesthetic appeal. The team ensured that every window and door was correctly fitted, fully sealed, and aligned with both client expectations and building regulations.
The completed installation delivered tangible benefits for the care home. Residents now enjoy a quieter, more comfortable environment, while energy efficiency has been improved through high-quality air sealing. The client received a fully compliant, durable, and visually appealing installation, delivered on schedule and with minimal disruption.
