Arcura was appointed to provide a full window and door package for the new Broadstairs Care Home development, combining PVC‑u systems with specialist aluminium solutions across the building.
Although the overall footprint followed a typical modern care‑facility layout, the design included several bespoke elements that required thoughtful coordination and technical problem‑solving.
The package incorporated a wide range of products, from PVC‑u windows and doors to aluminium entrance systems with automatic operation and pocket screens.
A large aluminium bi‑fold door was installed to the main lounge, alongside 60‑minute fire‑rated windows in areas where the external façade required enhanced protection. Additional elements included double steel louvre doors to the plant room, aluminium louvres to back of house spaces, aluminium fire‑exit doors with pad handles, an extra wide 1330mm delivery door, and a distinctive triangular gable end window designed to draw natural light deep into the lounge.
During the build, a number of technical considerations were addressed through careful planning and tailored solutions. These included electrically operated fire‑rated windows linked to the alarm system, bespoke aluminium flashings to protect exposed brickwork on terrace areas, and adjustments to entrance door frame positioning and lintel cladding to accommodate restricted opening heights.
The project was delivered smoothly, with minimal variations and a well‑coordinated approach across the wider team. The end result is a high quality, compliant installation that supported early completion and provides a durable, well‑integrated solution for the client.
