Argyll House is a residential development delivered with a strong architectural focus, featuring a distinctive retro design with exposed concrete internal finishes and increased ceiling heights throughout.
The glazing package required a tailored approach, combining multiple aluminium systems to achieve both the desired aesthetic and required performance standards. The scheme incorporated a unique green frame finish, alongside fire rated (EI60) windows due to the building’s proximity to the boundary. Glass to glass corner windows were also included, requiring additional structural calculations as they extended beyond standard design parameters. Deep window set backs were addressed through the introduction of bespoke cill solutions, while commercial door systems were installed at ground floor level.
As the project progressed, a number of technical and logistical challenges were identified. Arcura was introduced at a later stage to support with previously unaccounted structural brackets, ensuring compliance without delaying the programme. Installation works required EPDM membranes to be applied directly to frames prior to positioning, often within tight and constrained areas, demanding a high level of precision on site.
The site presented access and coordination challenges, with all glazing and frames lifted via crane using certified stillages. Non-linear site progression meant multiple return visits were required as areas became available. In addition, out of level SFS and concrete structures were resolved through bespoke packing solutions to maintain alignment and finish quality.
Despite these challenges, Arcura delivered the project in line with programme requirements, achieving the client’s design intent while maintaining performance and compliance. The quality of installation is reflected in the minimal requirement for aftercare, demonstrating a consistent and reliable delivery throughout.
