Arcura partnered with Jerram Falkus to deliver a complete aluminium glazing and wintergarden package for the St Clements residential development, comprising two new apartment blocks located just moments from the station and town centre.
Designed to echo the architectural character of neighbouring buildings, the scheme required distinctive wintergarden balconies as a defining feature, supported by a broader package of aluminium windows, doors, EN 12101-2 certified AOVs, steel security doors, and louvre systems.
Arcura supplied and installed all aluminium windows and doors, including window based AOV units, achieving 1.5 m² of certified free area, as well as an aluminium AOV door to meet smoke ventilation requirements. Each wintergarden featured fixed lower glazing with opening upper sections, designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding street scene while delivering long term durability. Many of these wintergardens required bespoke cill designs, all individually site measured and engineered to integrate perfectly with adjacent roofing and cladding works. This level of precision ensured consistent detailing and a clean visual finish across the development.
The project presented significant logistical challenges, with no on site parking, a single loading bay on a busy main road, and limited scaffold access. Every movement of materials had to be carefully planned. Arcura supplied all products on certified craneable stillages to allow safe lifting and controlled distribution throughout the constrained site. Due to restricted access around the scaffold, wintergarden units were delivered in a more component based form than usual, allowing installers to manoeuvre materials through tight spaces without compromising accuracy or programme sequencing. Thanks to this planning and adaptability, installation progressed in line with the critical path and supported timely removal of both the scaffold and crane.
Several specification changes were introduced throughout the build, including additional AOV requirements, heat soaked glass upgrades, and enhanced door automation. Arcura accommodated all changes quickly and efficiently, with the final contract value remaining within 4% of the original price, demonstrating strong commercial management and clear, proactive communication with the client. Positive working relationships between Jerram Falkus, Acura installers, and Arcura’s project management team helped maintain smooth progress on site, even as design elements evolved.
The completed development reflects Arcura’s commitment to technical precision, thorough coordination, and dependable delivery. The wintergardens and aluminium systems were installed to specification, completed on programme, and fully compliant with all performance and safety requirements. St Clements stands as a strong example of Arcura’s ability to overcome complex site constraints and deliver a high quality, visually cohesive, and technically robust result for both client and residents.
