Arcura delivered a comprehensive aluminium glazing and facade package for Darcy Gardens Care Home in Bath, Somerset, working closely with the project team to meet both the technical specification and local planning requirements.

The scope of works included automated aluminium entrance doors, curtain walling, aluminium plant room doors, a large plant room louvre and a prominent curved window feature. Together, these elements formed a cohesive aluminium package designed to provide durability, performance and a high quality visual finish suitable for a modern care home environment.

One of the main technical challenges on the project was the large curved window. Curved glazing requires a high level of accuracy, and careful coordination was essential to ensure the final product aligned correctly with the building structure. A thorough and detailed site survey was undertaken early in the process, enabling the window to be sized and manufactured precisely, which proved invaluable during installation and resulted in a smooth and efficient fit on site.

In addition, planning requirements stipulated that parts of the new facade needed to match the appearance of existing Crittall-style windows. Arcura successfully achieved this by producing bespoke aluminium elements that closely replicated the original aesthetic, while still delivering the benefits of modern aluminium systems in terms of performance, longevity and compliance.

The completed works provided the client with a high quality, fully compliant installation that balanced architectural sensitivity with contemporary design. The Darcy Gardens project demonstrates Arcura’s ability to deliver technically complex aluminium façade solutions, even where planning constraints and bespoke detailing are key considerations.
