The Burwood Grange care home in Weybridge was a distinctive scheme delivered for McGoff Construction, combining practicality with a strong emphasis on visual quality to reflect its Surrey setting.

The glazing package was primarily PVC‑U but included a range of aluminium and steel elements, such as aluminium entrance doors, aluminium bifold doors, steel doors, and a high number of access controlled door sets fitted with maglocks.

A key feature of the project was the use of tall windows and bespoke bay details, which are less common on care home developments. Several bay windows required careful coordination with external cladding and finishes, while elements of the scheme aligned with Secured by design principles, adding further technical considerations.

During delivery, some PVC‑U units exceeded standard size limitations, requiring design refinements including additional transoms to ensure system compliance. The project also involved a wide variety of substrates and façade details, each requiring tailored setting out to suit differing internal layouts and external finishes. In some areas, decorative “dummy” windows were installed using specialist glazing fixed into brickwork to maintain a consistent external appearance.

Through close collaboration with the site team, Arcura contributed to achieving a high quality end result. Additional support beyond the original scope, including adjustments to locks, trims, and finishing details, helped resolve issues efficiently and strengthen working relationships. The completed scheme delivers both strong visual appeal and reliable performance.
