Arcura was commissioned to supply and install windows and doors for every aperture of the Oxhey Care Home, known to the contractor as “Little Furze” after the school previously on site. This high-specification project raised the bar in the care home sector, combining standard requirements with bespoke architectural elements.

Initially, anodised finishes were considered for the windows, but the range of product types made maintaining aesthetic continuity and simplifying future maintenance difficult. Arcura instead sourced a powder-coated solution from the Interpon Anodic Bronze range, delivering a consistent finish across all elements. Many windows featured coloured panels below openings, often with walls behind, which required a specialist film applied internally to match the frame colour while preserving glass reflectance. The main entrance auto doors demanded a bespoke colour, and components were carefully powder coated off site before installation to ensure seamless integration without compromising performance.

On site, careful planning and coordination were essential. Some windows needed glazing both internally and externally due to the order of wall construction, alarm sensors had to be retrofitted to doors after most frames were already in place, and bi-fold doors were repositioned to accommodate layout changes. Installing the first floor curtain wall required close collaboration with the scaffolding team to safely fit both frames and glass.

Despite these complexities, the project achieved exceptional visual results, with all products providing a cohesive, high quality finish. The work was completed on schedule, even with the additional adaptations for alarm sensors and protective glazing. Thoughtful management and careful problem-solving meant the project was delivered under the initial order value, without compromising quality. Oxhey Care Home stands as a clear example of Arcura’s ability to provide technically sophisticated, visually consistent fenestration solutions, exceeding client expectations in both design and value.
